ART ON THE GREEN

Maybe this is just the call to action you need to get out those paints, crayons, chalks, pastels, charcoals, pens and inks of yours - or maybe your camera or phone - to create a masterpiece (or two) for the ever popular Art on the Green open art show. Better get going because the deadline is 2nd August 2024.

The Art on the Green open art show makes a welcome return at the start of this year's Little Arts Festival. The open show, which runs from 2nd to 4th August, is open to everyone. You can put in two works in any medium you like. Full details of how to register your participation on the Little Arts Festival website.

Local artists are already registering their interest in showing their work in Art on the Green - the open art exhibition that kicks off the Rushlake Green 2024 Little Arts Exhibition.  Artists of all levels of experience are invited to submit two pieces for the opening show.

For anyone interested in entering one or two artworks in the Art of the Green exhibition, the process is very simple. First you go onto the website to see the joining instructions. Having registered as a participant, and paid the fee of £1 to £5 per piece, you then just complete or prepare your artwork for delivery to the Dunn Village Hall shortly before the start of the festival. The festival organisers will curate all the artworks and have everything ready for the Preview show on the first evening of the Festival.

The tradition of an annual ‘Art on the Green’ exhibition like this dates back many generations. The current incarnation has its roots in the events organised by the late Chris Liddiard who himself was a highly talented artists (and musician). And in fact the very first Little Arts Festival was Chris Liddiard’s brainchild - the idea of bringing together, and celebrating, all the amazing artistic, creative and imagination individuals and arts groups we have locally in and around Rushlake Green. And Chris’s spirit lives on today in our celebration of local artistic endeavours in every form.
